The Model 84 represents Bersa's first venture up in caliber from the .22 LR and .22 Short pistols
of prior years, and features a ventilated top rib on the slide plus a manual trigger-blocking safety.
The slide catch also serves as the barrel pin. A dedicated recoil spring guide rod is situated
underneath the fixed barrel. Model 84 pistols were marked "Lusber" for the Italian market (Bersa
was founded in Argentina by Italian immigrants), and a quantity of such Bersa/Lusber 84 pistols
were imported to the United States by CAI (Century Arms International) of Vermont.

Disassembly/Field-Stripping is involved.

from itsacjthing posted at BersaTalk
"This is my method, make sure your Lusber is unloaded
Check again that it is unloaded.
Pull back on the slide about 3/4 inch and grasp the guide rod.
Slowly let the slide move forward up to your fingers and pull forward on the rod.
Then put downward pressure on the rod which forces the rear end up.
Slowly release the rod and it should stick out about 3/8 inch.
It is actually resting on the barrel lug above the hole.
This should release the pressure on the slide catch pivot (serving also as the barrel pin)
and you should be able to push it out from the right to the left side of the frame.

If the guide rod is not sticking out from the front of the slide try it again.
Don't force the slide catch / barrel pin or it will get damaged
and I have not found anybody with replacement parts!"

In production for three years, the Model 84 was superseded by the Bersa Model 844 in 1978.
That year marked the shift of product line to Bersa's 2nd Generation of pistols.
